The Joys of Adopting a Shelter Dog!

So many reasons to adopt a dog, and in case you needed one more- October is the American Humane Association’s Adopt-A-D0g Month! Every year, it’s estimated that 3-4 million animals are waiting in shelters for DSC_0601someone to love them and give them a safe home- tragically these animals are euthanized.

If you’re in the market for adopting an animal, consider adopting/rescuing a shelter dog. Not only will you be saving a life, you’ll also be adding so many positives to your’s. Dogs are wonderfully in-tune to our emotions, amazingly supportive, and furbulous companions who can make a difference in the way we see the world. They can run with you, snuggle with you, comfort you and greet you with joy when you return home from a hard day at work.

Please keep in mind the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control shelter when you are wanting to adopt, or know of someone who is looking to adopt. I have gotten every one of my dogs from them and they have some pretty special dogs (and cats) who need homes. They have mixed breeds, pure breds and dogs of every shape, size, age, and disposition– all waiting for a loving home and companion to care for (and be cared for). If you’re searching for a particular breed that isn’t currently available at a shelter, go online to find a legitimate breed-specific rescue group and search for your furry friend there.
